PnR: Re-Screen

The "Re-Screen" is a strategic facet of the pick & roll play. It comes into play when the screener's defender flat-shows. This means the defender somewhat shows on the ball handler from a distance, preventing a drive, while the primary defender closely guards the ball handler. To counter this, the offensive players adjust: the screener turns around for a screen from the opposite side, while the ball handler changes direction. Usually, the screener's defender can't quickly switch sides for a second show. This tactic capitalizes on the defensive limitations, creating opportunities for the offense.
